I know I’ve been touting the awesomeness of the Mac recently, and you’re probably sick of it, so I’ll let SF Chronicle columnist, Mark Morford do the talking:
I like this guy’s style of writing. He brings out some great points. In regard to all the PC viruses, worms, trojans, security holes, etc, he writes:
“…And with very few exceptions, every Mac owner everywhere on the planet simply looks at all this viral chaos and spyware noise and Microsoft apologia and shrugs. And smiles. ”
I use both Mac and Windows machines in the office, and I really have to agree with this guy about the Mac’s elegant, intuitive GUI deisgn on the front-end as well. Apple’s OS X is just a breath of fresh air after using Windows ever since I was a nerdy 11-year old when we started using Windows.
I know Lem loves OS X. Has anyone else used a Mac? What were your impressions on them?

Using Mozilla Firefox 1.0 on Windows XP
It looks nice, I just don’t know how to use them well, as far as just simple things like shortcut keyboard keys, or not being able to right click.
Using Mozilla Firefox 0.10.1 on Windows XP
Yeah, the shortcut keys on Macs take a bit to get used to, and some of them are frustratingly not as good as PCs. I think that’s my only complaint, or one of very few that I can’t think of.
I love Macs from a graphics standpoint, because they run so smoothly and OSX is a much cleaner, organized operating system.

The “no right-click” thing is a misconception because of that stupid one-button mouse that ships with Mac computers. Just plug in your favorite two-button mouse with a scroll wheel and everything’s the same. Right click brings up the contextual menus just like Windows.
I’m used to switching between PC and Mac shortcut keys now, but yes, it was annoying at first.
Using Opera 7.54 on Windows XP
The last time I used a Mac was in 2001. Before that, I had used it intermittently. It’s like what we used to say about H-P calculators: “Once an H-P user, always an H-P user!”
To those who vilify Macs without ever touching them, we say, “You don’t know what you’re talking about!”
As we used used to say, “Windows 95, Mac 87″!

I actually didn’t like OS 9, which was what they were at on 2001. I used OS 9 all through my video/digital art program at CSUN, and I like Windows better.
With OS X though, things are much, much better.

Cool.

I loved my Mac Cube, and i’m seriously considering a Mac mini, just in terms that its really small and would be easy for us to get across to California with…..but brittany is a mac unbeliever, she hates them because she hated the ones that she had in HIGH SCHOOL!!!
I think the only way i could change her mind is if i got an iPod.
Cool…what a good reason to get an iPod!!! ;o)

I would look for any reason to get an iPod. They’re well worth it.
Using Internet Explorer 6.0 on Windows XP
Your Uncle Dave got himself this palm computer thing last year and I couldn’t talk to him that much for several days. I am not quite sure if I will be excited if he gets an iPod because I might not be able to talk to him for weeks.
