Scuba.com, the e-tailer that I used to work for, had an article written about them in the Orange Country Register back in November and was just reminded of it today. They are successful, but the work environment was stressful, deadlines were always unreasonable, and because of that, all project results were always sub-standard.
This quote is funny:
“One of our early employees was a math genius who wrote very esoteric code in unusual ways that later employees didn’t know how to change…”
…”unsual ways” because there was never any time to create well-written code, and “later employees didn’t know how to change” it because there was never any time to document anything.
(They weren’t talking about me, by the way)
