[UPDATE] Blue Sphere Studios version 4 coming soon.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted and I’ve got a few things on my mind, so this will be another post of randoms, or tidbits, as Dave calls them.
I just spent 5 days in New Mexico visiting old friends and attending a wedding, and a few points stick out:
- Taking a 1 and a half year old on a 20+ hour travel time that mainly involves being on a train is NOT a good idea.
- The disconnect between an average salary and an average price for a home in the Bay Area is even more apparent than ever before. In New Mexico, we can afford a 4 bedroom 3 bath with ACRES of land for less than what we paid for our manufactured home. These would be million dollar homes here in Santa Cruz County!
- San Jose was hotter than Albuquerque, which was a pleasant surprise for us. We were expecting 100 degree desert heat, but it was actually great weather while we were there.
- Why aren’t there more Sonics here in the Bay Area!? $1.50 for a good size Strawberry Cream Slush is a dream come true.
Caleb’s growing up. Chesney wrote about it on her blog, but from the more sentimental, mushy parent, I can’t but have mixed feelings. I’m the proudest dad ever, but there’s a part of me that is sad that I’ll never see the cute, baby Caleb again. …oh well, I guess it must be time to have another kid…
Switchfoot’s new album is out! It’s awesome. What’s with the matching haircuts?
Hurricane Katrina has meant some long hours for non-profits. With CityTeam sending teams to help with various aspects of the relief effort, it’s been a mad scramble for marketing to support those teams from raising the funds online to producing the signs and badges needed. I only saw Caleb 1 hour every day I worked last week, and this week’s not much better…
I’ve been meaning to redesign Blue Sphere Studios, but everytime I start working on it, something else pulls me away, and by the time I come back to it, I don’t like the design anymore and want to start over. This has happened 3 times now over the last year, and I’m looking at my 4th design and I feel like I want to start over. I now am coming to realize that this will never get done unless I get fired from CityTeam.

Did you go anywhere else besides Albuquerque? Las Cruces?
Yeah, Sonic is awesome. They have the best onion rings.
You still have a few years of enjoying Caleb’s cuteness. Anthony is 7 and we still find him cute.

We drove out near Gallup for the wedding, but other than that, just Albuquerque. If we had more time, we would have gone up to Santa Fe for some sightseeing.
How did you like NM back your Air Force days?

I enjoyed NM during the first 2 years of my assignment. After that, I was ready to go back to CA. Not a good place to live in. Plus, they have sandstorms during the summer. I hate sand.

I can relate to your last item about re-doing BSS. That’s happened to me a bunch of times for DanKatie.com. And I still don’t even have a RSS feed…

Yeah, I decided to just push through with this latest design, even though I’m not as excited about it as I was when I started it.
It should be done soon.

Redesign is fun. I do it as a way to unwind. Somehow it’s kind of nice to be able to work on a personal site after catering to other people all day–you only have yourself to please. I had fun with http://technomancy.us anyway.
