After a 3-season hiatus, I’ve started playing in the roller hockey league at Scotts Valley, only this time, not with the Snipers/Devils, but for the Stars. Mac, who has just moved into the area, has joined as well, which makes things even more fun. Both Mac and I play defense and on the same line, when possible. Last Wednesday, we shut out the Eagles 5-0 in our second game of the season. Did I mention we play defense? (Our goalie can have some credit too…) We even got a goal a piece, so now we’re on the stats page (scroll down to “The Stars”).
Going from little or no excercise for nearly a year to playing a full hockey game is difficult. After our first game, I was hurting for days. It’s a little better now.
If you are ever in the Scotts Valley vicinity on a Wednesday night, swing by, have a beer and watch one of our games.
- Feb 1, 6:00 pm vs. Sabres
- Feb 8, 8:00 pm vs. Stingrays
- Feb 22, 6:00 pm vs. High Rollers
- Mar 1, 8:00 pm vs. Devils
- Mar 8, 8:00 pm vs. High Rollers
- Mar 15, 7:00 pm vs. Stingrays
- Mar 22 – 29 playoffs…
We’re still unbeaten–hopefully we can keep it that way.

How come you guys didn’t join your old team Snipers/Devils?
I would have, but I didn’t care that much. All my former teammates have moved on to other teams or up to a higher league.
How does this league compare to the one Sabotage joined? Any chance the ugly green jerseys will make an appearance any time soon?
Since our team color is green, and our members are too cheap to buy all-new jerseys, we just have to wear green jerseys. You know what that means–yup, Mac and I proudly wear our Sabotage jerseys in the games.
This league is much more our level of play. I now know that Tournament level competition is a few notches above.
From what I can tell, Sabatage would do OK in C league. Not that we would go all the way, or even have a winning record, but we’d definitely be competitive.
