I, Tim Malabuyo, the author of this site, whole-heartedly endorse and recommend the Jars of Clay album, Redemption Songs. Yeah, I know it’s been out a while, but we only got our copy recently when Chesney won a call-in on Air1 (again). All but a few songs on the album have gotten 4 or 5 stars in my iTunes. Jars of Clay doesn’t “ruin” the hymns (for me) by taking away from the message of the hymn by creating an over-rocked, barely recognizable version of the song, but rather applies their recognizable magic of mellow, soul-ish style. Dan Haseltine singing hymns, man!

Do they sing the Bob Marley classic “Redemption Song”?
If they did, that’d be awesome.

I used to think that Jars of Clay wasn’t as good as their first few years, but they just changed their style of music, and I think it’s awesome. Who We Are Instead is so great, and is slowly becoming one of my favorites, even rivaling the first two albums. But then again…their first album is way too awesome.
Anyway, I wanted to get Redemption Songs, but there’s other things I’m waiting for that I’d rather get. I try to save money by buying one album every couple months.
