Yup, it’s that time of year again: time to change jobs. Well, not really, but it was about this time last year that I left CityTeam for McAfee. Next month I will be starting a brand-new job as “Web Producer” at FileMaker, an Apple company.
At FileMaker, I’ll get the more casual work environment of a smaller company, but at the same time have the benefits and perks of a huge company like Apple (…like Apple employee discounts!) Sounds like a winning combination to me. I’ve already met some of the people on the web team I will be working with, and it looks like I’ll feel right at home. They have some cool, new things planned for the FileMaker website, and I’m excited to be part of it.
I’ll miss McAfee! My time here has been really rewarding. I have gotten the experience and learned the skills that I expected from such a great Web UI team at McAfee and I really loved getting the chance to work with so many talented professionals in my field.
I was able to be part of the redesign of a major corporate website to web standards. Companies are still coming around to converting their websites to web standards, and it was great to have some part of this shift in web technologies.
A brief summary of the changes to the website just in the short time I was with them. The consumer website is pictured first, the corporate website second:
What I’ll miss most though, are the friends that I made here. It was a lot of fun to come to work every day to work with friends. Lunches out, ping-pong, even fun get-togethers outside of work. Good times! I’ll miss you guys!
